Key takeaways

  • Canva Pro costs US$144 per year for one person on Canva's own pricing page, and Canva Teams is no longer sold to new customers, so small teams now look at the Business plan at US$250 per year per person.
  • VistaCreate is the closest like-for-like swap we found: a free Starter plan, a Pro plan listed at $10 per month, up to 10 seats and a 14-day trial.
  • Adobe Express has the longest free trial of the paid tiers we checked (30 days on Premium), and Adobe's US pricing lists Premium at $9.99 per month.
  • Visme and Piktochart are better than Canva when the job is a report, presentation or infographic rather than a social post. Visme's paid plans start at $12.25 per person per month on annual billing.
  • Several tools hide their prices behind a script-heavy page (Fotor, Kittl, Microsoft Designer), so we say See website instead of guessing.

The best Canva alternatives

Canva is popular for good reason, but it is not the right fit for everyone. People leave over price, over the way Canva now sells seats to teams, or because they only need one kind of design and find the full toolbox crowded. We compared these eight tools using each vendor's own pricing and product pages in October 2026, and we mark any price we could not confirm.

Great for: Social posts and short videos with Adobe's templates

Adobe Express is the alternative most people try first, and it makes sense. It does the same everyday jobs as Canva (social graphics, flyers, short videos) with Adobe's templates, fonts and stock library behind it. Adobe's page lists a free plan with 5GB of storage, and Premium with 250 generative credits per month, brand kits and one-click resizing.

On price, Adobe's US pricing page lists Premium at $9.99 per month with no annual commitment, and the page we could load offered a 30-day free trial. Adobe also sells a higher tier called Firefly Pro that adds full Photoshop on the web and mobile, but we could not confirm its US price. Pricing on Adobe's site changes by country, so check what you see before you sign up.

The catch is that the free plan is deliberately limited. Adobe's page shows only a handful of lifetime uses for some of the AI video and presentation tools on the free tier. If you want those regularly, plan on paying.

Why it made the list
  • Free plan needs no credit card
  • 30-day free trial of Premium
  • Brand kits and one-click resize on Premium
Keep in mind
  • Free plan has limited generative AI use
  • Pricing varies by country and the page is hard to read

VistaCreate

Great for: A close Canva replacement with a low price

Open create.vista.com
Pricing starts at$10 per month
Free tierYes
VistaCreate website
create.vista.com homepage

VistaCreate (the product formerly known as Crello) is the closest thing to a one-for-one swap. The editor is drag and drop, the templates cover the usual social, print and presentation formats, and the free plan is usable on its own. VistaCreate's plans page says Starter includes 100K design templates, 1M photos, videos and vectors, one Brand Kit and 10 GB of storage.

Pro is listed at $10 per month for up to 10 seats and adds 200K+ templates, 170M+ stock files, unlimited Brand Kits and storage, social media scheduling and AI tools such as an image generator, AI writer and background remover. The page offers a 14-day free trial and a Save 23% option for annual payment. We could not tell from the page text whether the $10 figure is the monthly or the annual rate, so confirm it at checkout.

We think VistaCreate fits freelancers and tiny teams that want a familiar editor at a lower cost. The honest weakness is scale. Canva's own library is larger, and the free tier gives you a single seat.

Why it made the list
  • Free Starter plan with 100K templates
  • Pro allows up to 10 seats
  • 14-day Pro trial
Keep in mind
  • Free plan allows 1 seat and 1 Brand Kit
  • Smaller template library than Canva

Visme

Great for: Presentations, reports and data visuals

Open visme.co
Pricing starts at$12.25 per person per month (billed annually)
Free tierYes
Visme website
visme.co homepage

Visme started as a presentation and infographic tool and still shows it. If your design work is mostly slide decks, one-page reports and charts, it is a more natural home than a social-media-first editor.

Visme's pricing page lists a free Basic plan, Starter at $12.25 per person per month ($147 per year) and Business at $24.75 per person per month ($297 per year). Those are annual-billing figures, and the page does not show a separate monthly total. Basic gives unlimited projects but caps storage at 500MB, allows 50 slides per project and includes 10 AI credits a month. Business is where you get PPTX, HTML5, video and GIF downloads, a Brand Kit and analytics.

Students can pay $48 per year, educators $96, and nonprofits can request 25% off Business. The page lists no free trial. Visme is not the cheapest option here, and the useful extras sit in the Business tier.

Why it made the list
  • Strong for decks, reports and charts
  • Business plan adds brand kit and analytics
  • Student and nonprofit discounts
Keep in mind
  • Free plan has only 500MB of storage and 10 AI credits per month
  • No free trial listed

PosterMyWall

Great for: Flyers, posters and email campaigns

Open postermywall.com
Pricing starts at$13 per month
Free tierYes
PosterMyWall website
postermywall.com homepage

PosterMyWall is built for the person who needs a flyer for Friday. Its templates lean toward events, restaurants, retail and promotions, and it goes a step further than most design tools by letting you send trackable emails and publish to social accounts from the same place.

The pricing page we loaded listed a free plan at $0, Premium at $13 per month and Premium Plus at $30 per month, with seat options for teams. Free includes 1M+ design and email templates and limited downloads, with high-resolution downloads starting from $5.99. Premium adds unlimited downloads, scheduling, 3,000 trackable emails a month, AI image generation and a Brand Kit. Premium Plus raises that to 10,000 emails and 250 new credits a month.

It suits local businesses that run promotions and want one place for the poster, the email and the post. If you mostly design presentations or logos, other tools on this list are a better match.

Why it made the list
  • 1M+ design and email templates
  • Can schedule social posts and emails
  • Free plan includes limited downloads
Keep in mind
  • Free downloads are limited
  • Premium Plus at $30 per month is a big jump
Piktochart logo
#5

Piktochart

Great for: Infographics and business reports

Open piktochart.com
Pricing starts at$10 per member per month (billed annually)
Free tierYes
Piktochart website
piktochart.com homepage

Piktochart is a focused tool for infographics, reports, posters and presentations. Where Canva tries to do everything, Piktochart narrows the menu, which helps marketers, HR teams and teachers who just want a clean one-pager.

According to Piktochart's own Canva comparison page (updated August 2026), the free plan includes 60 AI credits per month with no time limit. Pro is $15 per month, or $10 per month when billed annually. Business is $20 per month, or $17 per month billed annually. We could not load the live pricing page, so those figures come from Piktochart's comparison text and should be double-checked.

One warning: that page also quotes Canva prices that do not match Canva's own pricing page, so use it for Piktochart's numbers only. Piktochart is a good pick when the output is a data-heavy visual, and a poor pick if you make a lot of social video.

Why it made the list
  • Free plan with 60 AI credits a month
  • Focused on infographics and reports
  • Free plan keeps collaborators at no cost
Keep in mind
  • Narrower than Canva for social, print and video
  • Its own page is a vendor comparison, so treat claims with care

Microsoft Designer

Great for: People who already pay for Microsoft 365

Open designer.microsoft.com
Pricing starts atSee website
Free tierSee website
Microsoft Designer website
designer.microsoft.com homepage

Microsoft Designer is an AI-first design app. You describe what you want and it generates image and layout options, then lets you edit them. It also has an Edit with AI tab for restyling photos and removing or blurring backgrounds, and designs can be dropped into Word, PowerPoint and email.

Microsoft's support page says you need a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family account to get started, and that it was not available to enterprise users at the time of writing. Because we could not load a current pricing page, we have left the price as See website. Microsoft has also changed how Designer is offered before, so check the sign-in page for what applies to you today.

The same support page says that from October 20, 2025 the legacy editor was retired, along with brand kits and stock videos. For a small business that wants saved brand colors and fonts, that is a real gap. Designer is best for individuals who already subscribe to Microsoft 365 and want quick AI-made graphics.

Why it made the list
  • AI image generation and photo editing in one place
  • Works with Microsoft 365 apps
  • Remove or blur backgrounds with AI
Keep in mind
  • Microsoft's support page says a personal Microsoft 365 account is required
  • Brand kits and stock video were removed in October 2025

Fotor

Great for: Photo editing plus quick designs

Open fotor.com
Pricing starts atSee website
Free tierYes
Fotor website
fotor.com homepage

Fotor began as a photo editor and still feels like one. Its homepage highlights an AI photo enhancer, background and object removers, filters, collage templates and logo, flyer and card makers, with free apps for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. The site claims 800M+ customers, which is the company's own number and not something we could check.

Fotor's pricing page lists a free Basic plan (512MB of cloud storage, JPG, PNG and PDF export, limited free credits) and paid Pro, Pro+ and Max tiers. Pro adds HD exports with transparent PNG, AI batch edit and multiple brand kits. Higher tiers add more storage, up to 500GB on Max. The page showed blank price fields when we loaded it, so we cannot quote a price. Search snippets suggested a low entry price, but we would not rely on that without seeing the live page.

It is a good fit when your designs start with a photo, such as product shots or profile images. It is less convincing for long documents or team workflows.

Why it made the list
  • Strong photo tools including background and object removers
  • Free mobile and desktop apps
  • Free Basic plan
Keep in mind
  • Prices did not display on the pricing page we loaded
  • Free plan has 512MB of cloud storage
Kittl logo
#8

Kittl

Great for: Typography, print products and shirt designs

Open kittl.com
Pricing starts atSee website
Free tierYes
Kittl website
kittl.com homepage

Kittl calls itself an AI-first design platform, and its homepage is aimed at print-on-demand sellers, small businesses and agencies. It highlights text effects, a font library, listing-ready product mockups, AI image and video generation and background removal.

The pricing page names Free, Pro, Expert and Max plans. The free plan is limited to personal use with no commercial rights, while Pro and above include a commercial license covering up to 500,000 copies. Paid plans include a monthly token allowance for AI tools, and yearly billing is offered. The page did not display dollar amounts, so we have left the price as See website.

Kittl makes sense if you sell shirts, mugs or posters and care about lettering. It is a poor match for someone who wants to build slide decks or fill a weekly social calendar.

Why it made the list
  • Text effects and font library
  • Mockups for product listings
  • Paid plans include a commercial license
Keep in mind
  • Free plan is personal use only
  • Prices were not visible on the page we loaded

How we picked these

We started from the tools that appear most often as Canva replacements and kept only the ones that exist and are sold today. For each we read the vendor's own pricing page, product pages or support pages in October 2026, and we recorded plan names, prices and limits only where we could read them. Where a page would not load or showed blank prices, we say so and write See website. We did not run hands-on tests, so every comparison here is based on published features, limits and prices.

We left out tools that mainly resell Canva-style templates without their own editor, and we did not rank by affiliate payouts. The list mixes large vendors (Adobe, Microsoft) with smaller specialists (Piktochart, Kittl, PosterMyWall).

How to choose a Canva alternative

Start with the job, not the brand. A tool that is excellent for infographics can be clumsy for a weekly social calendar.

Match the tool to the output

If most of your work is social posts and short videos, look at Adobe Express and VistaCreate first. For decks, reports and charts, Visme and Piktochart are built for that. For flyers, posters and promotional email, PosterMyWall covers the whole chain. For lettering and printable products, Kittl is the specialist.

Check the free plan limits

Free plans change often and the limits matter more than the headline. Look at storage (Fotor's free plan has 512MB, Visme's has 500MB), seats, export formats and whether commercial use is allowed. Kittl's free plan, for example, is personal use only.

Count your seats

Per-seat pricing adds up quickly. Canva Business is US$250 per year per person on Canva's own page, so a five-person team pays $1,250 a year before any discount. VistaCreate Pro covers up to 10 seats under one plan, while Visme and Piktochart price per person or per member. Do the multiplication before you commit.

Test your real templates

Take one design you make every month and rebuild it in two tools during the free trial. You will learn more from that than from any feature list. Check that your brand fonts upload and that exports look right.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to Canva?

VistaCreate, Adobe Express, PosterMyWall and Piktochart all have free plans. VistaCreate gives you 100K templates and one Brand Kit for free, and Adobe Express needs no credit card to start. Free plans limit downloads, storage or AI use, so check them against what you plan to make.

Is Adobe Express better than Canva?

It depends on what you value. Adobe Express has Adobe's fonts, stock library and AI tools, and Premium is listed at $9.99 per month. Canva Pro is US$144 per year on Canva's page, so the yearly cost is close. Try both with one real project before choosing.

Which Canva alternative is best for infographics and reports?

Piktochart and Visme are the two we would try first. Piktochart is focused on infographics and reports and has a free plan with 60 AI credits a month, according to its own page. Visme adds stronger presentation and data tools, but its useful download options sit in the Business plan.

Can I use designs from free plans for my business?

Not always. Kittl's free plan is for personal use only, with a commercial license on paid plans. Other tools have their own license terms for templates and stock assets, so read each vendor's license page before you print or sell anything.

Are there Canva alternatives that work on a phone?

Yes. Adobe Express runs on desktop browsers and mobile phones, Fotor has free iOS and Android apps, and PosterMyWall offers apps for Android and iOS. The mobile experience varies, so test the app before you depend on it.
